Precepts Study Series: An Introduction to the Sixteen Bodhisattva Precepts

Schedule: on Saturday mornings 9:45 – 11:15 a.m.

April 3 – 10 – 17 – 24 and May 8 – 15

Precept Series led by Sensei Pat Shingetsu Guzy

The classes are open to all those who are interested in learning about the precepts and their application to their life. The classes are highly recommended for everyone who practices at ZCLA. The classes will be a combination of lectures and discussion. Assignments will be given. This series is a prerequisite for everyone who is interested in formally receiving the precepts (Jukai).  

 

The Class topics include:

• The Three Treasures 
• The Three Tenets
• The Three Vehicles,
• Cause and Effect        
• The Ten Grave Precepts
• Atonement
• ZCLA’s  Statement of Right Conduct

 

Tuition for Series: $175 members; $300 nonmembers. Includes Precepts and Study Workbook text received at first session.

Jukai (Receiving the Precepts) Class Series

June 5 and 12, Saturday mornings 9:45 – 11:15 a.m.

Jukai Series led by Senseis John Daishin Buksbazen and Raul Ensho Berge

This two-class series is for those who wish to receive the precepts. The Precepts Series is a prerequisite for these classes. The class topics include the Lineage, bowing practice, the Jukai Ceremony, the Rakusu (the Buddha’s robe), and the mudra of Gassho.

Tuition: $70 for mem-bers; $120 nonmembers. Register through the Zen Center office.

Tuition for combination of both series: $200 for members and $375 for non-members.
